Another Class act.... Stayed here in late March of 2024 for two nights. I found the staff to be very accommodating, rooms were very clean and the location was central to shopping and restaurants in Torrance. I found the grounds to be well kept and serene, especially for a metropolitan city location. I do question Hiltons pricing policy ( which is not the fault of the specific location) that somehow charges as much as a 30% rate increase depending on occupancy, even if you remain in the same room. I also take issue with their decision to install parking kiosks and charge diamond members as much as $30 per night for parking. The food and room service was very good and dont forget to enjoy a warm complimentary chocolate chip cookie! overall this Doubletree met the basic Hilton standards.

I recently attended an event at this location and an an overall positive experience. Upon checking in the receptionist brought me out two warm chocolate chip cookies. I ate them immediately after entering my room and they were delicious. Very warm and chocolaty. The room was lovely, however I was disappointed that there wasn't a bathtub, only shower. The restaurant was under construction but they adapted by having the food in the lounge and a couple of special rooms. The event space was beautiful, tastefully decorated and spacious. My only complaints was the door that opened to the mini fridge was off its hinges. There was also a pretty gross looking stain on the chair in the room. The walls must be pretty thin because I could hear the couple above me all night long. Plus, the people next to me showered and flushed the toilet a lot. I had a hard time sleeping Saturday night because of the shower and toilet. What bothered me the most however was that I ordered room service one morning and the online menu said one price for coffee, and the restaurant charged me more. I brought that to their attention and the restaurant would not honor the price from the online menu. They said the hotel needed to update the menu. I chose to not make a big fuss about it. Other than those issues, I did enjoydid enjoy my stay.

Visited family this past weekend and stayed at DoubleTree Torrance for 2 nights. This was our first time at this location. When we arrived after a 7 hr drive around 8pm, I appreciated the quick check-in at the front desk, and of course, the fresh warm cookies! Plenty of free open parking as well. We had a double bed on the 7th floor (701) with a small balcony overlooking Hawthorne St. The room was small-ish and tight for 2 adults and an 11 yr old, but it was clean and appeared to have been remodeled sometime ago and had a modern feel. Beds and pillows were comfortable and we slept well. Now, a few CONS: After a long drive, I needed a drink so I headed downstairs to the bar. I ordered a regular draft (IPA) and was surprised at the price - $13.20. Wow. Never seen it that expensive before, and I've previously stayed at other Double Tree hotel with the most recent at Monrovia (3 months ago). Never again. Another con would be the room's table and drawers. They appear not to be part of the previous remodel because they are sooo very old. The doors to the fridge always jammed when we tried to open, and made a cracking noise as if it's about to break... every time we opened it. Lastly, upon review of my credit card statement, I was charged $6.00 for 2 bottled waters. This shocked me since there was no notice about any fee. According to their accounting department, they only started charging for water as of this month (as of Sept 2023). Since there wasn't any sign/notice about the new charge, I disputed it and was pleased their manager understood and waived the charge. Overall, we were pleased with our stay and would come back if we visited the area again. Hopefully we get a room with a better table and properly working drawers/cabinets.

I hope I have the benefit of staying here again. I was very impressed -- with the staff with the amenities, the pool, the in room service. And all this while the hotel was under a fairly notable renovation, with the main restaurant closed. Not only was this not a problem during the multi-day stay, the renovation work was never apparent. This hotel absolutely caters to business travelers. During our stay, there were several full flight crews staying here, and it seems like this is the hotel of choice for a couple of airlines. Not surprising, as the hotel certainly has a bit of an old school charm, modernized, and the amenities are quite varied for someone traveling on business. They even have a cafe with snacks, coffee, treats, bottles of different types of alcohol and more (with a self checkout option). Check in was very smooth, especially as an Honors member. It was the first time using the digital key. But I ended up talking to the desk anyway because I could not find a luggage cart upon check-in. They have them, and will offer bell service. You need only ask. And good thing I asked because they offer a warm DoubleTree cookie for every guest. Housekeeping is also by request. At this time (September 2023), the hotel is completely remodeling its restaurant and building a lounge on the executive level (the upper most floors). But the bar/lounge was open, and they were able to move breakfast to one of the meeting rooms. It was crammed, and guest doubled up at the tables or took tables at the pool for breakfast (our choice, and very lovely), so it worked out. We opted for an executive level room on the west side, hoping for a view of the ocean. There wasn't one. And given the slope of the rolling hills, it doesn't look like any room has an ocean view. I found the room to be surprisingly standard and a bit small. It appears that the rooms on the east side, facing Del Amo, are slightly larger. But this hotel has lots of benefits: Free parking, and lots of it. No valet, however. The pool -- at 8 feet deep! -- was an absolute treat, along with the fire ring nearby and a jacuzzi (which is large enough for a group of 10 but could have been set to a higher temperature). It was a pleasure to see that this adult only crowd (never saw a child at the pool during our stay, though families are welcome here) kept pretty tidy and respectful. There was a group that brought a speaker and cans of White Claw one evening, but they at least kept chill and weren't disruptive. There is a well constituted gym with free weights and mats. The Peloton was out of order, however. The hotel is just off Route 107 and across the street from the Del Amo Fashion Center. Redondo Beach is just a couple of miles away and LAX is about 10 miles away. Breakfast and room service are both exceptional. We had breakfast purposefully each day because it was so good. They offer eggs served different ways (scrambled, omelet-style, over easy), granola, French toast, pancakes, granolas, several fresh fruits (including strawberries, blueberries and melons), sausage, bacon, several types of breads, cereals and several juices. And we ordered in one night and very much enjoyed the calamari. Only real issues (overall, minor) during our entire stay was that the card swipe for the elevator was finicky and the pool could use some additional skimming thanks to all of the beautiful trees surrounding it. Related to key access: We found ourselves several times sitting in the elevator with other guests trying to get our multiple keys to swipe so we could get to our respective floors.
